TSA PreCheck®:

• Perfect for: Domestic travelers who crave a smoother security experience.

• Benefits: Expedited screening with no need to remove shoes, belts, or light jackets. Laptops and liquids stay in your carry-on, making packing a breeze.

• Cons: Doesn't include expedited customs clearance. Children 12 and under can go through PreCheck® with a pre-approved adult, but teenagers (13-17) need their own PreCheck® application for guaranteed access.

• Application Process: Relatively simple online application followed by a background check and in-person interview at a designated enrollment center. Fees are $85 for a five-year membership.

Global Entry®:

• Perfect for: Frequent international travelers who want a seamless arrival experience.

• Benefits: Includes all the perks of TSA PreCheck®, plus expedited customs clearance upon arrival in the US. No more filling out paper forms – simply use kiosks to scan your fingerprints and declare your belongings electronically.

• Cons: Higher application fee ($100) compared to PreCheck®. Children of any age require their own Global Entry® application for access.

• Application Process: Similar to PreCheck®, but with a more in-depth interview focusing on travel history.

So, which program is right for you?

• Choose TSA PreCheck® if: You primarily travel domestically and want a faster security experience.

• Choose Global Entry® if: You travel internationally frequently and value the convenience of expedited customs clearance.

Bonus Tip! Many travel credit cards offer statement credits to cover (or almost cover) the application fee!
