Bri and Liz are the moms behind Our Traveling Tots. These two best friends met over 10 years ago while working as summer camp counselors, and their shared love of the outdoors and travel sparked a friendship that has lasted through marriages, babies, and moves to different states. They decided to start documenting their family travels on social media after a rough year of work and a desire to scratch their travel itch, and they've been sharing their adventures and tips with their growing following ever since.
So, why is family travel so important to Bri and Liz?
They believe that it provides valuable educational and immersive experiences for their children, allowing them to learn about different cultures and develop important life and developmental skills. But it's also important for Bri and Liz as moms who want to continue pursuing their passions and hobbies even after having kids. They started sharing their travels and tips in part because they were tired of hearing people say that they couldn't travel like they used to once they had children.
"One of the reasons we started documenting our travels and sharing tips was because as young moms we were tired of people telling us that now that we have kids we couldn’t travel like we used to. Which is simply not true!"
Of course, traveling with kids does have its challenges; Bri and Liz know this firsthand and offer advice for overcoming them. The most important thing, they say, is to be flexible and patient.
"The most challenging part of traveling with kids is the willingness and ability to be flexible and patient. Traveling with kids, especially young ones, is unpredictable and requires you to be okay with not having everything be perfect, on-time, clean, or peaceful! We believe the best way to overcome this is by finding a happy medium between not having strict plans and being okay not following your home routine"
For those new to family travel, Bri and Liz offer encouragement and advice:
First of all, you can do it! While we advise you to do your research on your location, transportation, and the right gear, we also encourage families to do what works best for your crew! Only you know what will and won’t work for your family. And don’t be discouraged if a day or trip doesn’t go well, we too have tough days!
And let's not forget about the food!

These two families love trying new and delicious local cuisines. They don’t necessarily have a favorite restaurant, but they cannot wait to go back to the street markets in Chiang Mai, Thailand, and get a huge order of fresh mango sticky rice!
We hope you've enjoyed learning about Bri & Liz and why they love family travel. You can continue following their journey on social media, and don’t forget to check out their website for travel inspiration & guides.

Remember, the best advice these parents shared for new families is to get out there and do it. You never know what incredible memories you'll make until you try!
